Martial Arts for the 21st Century

In late 2009 I developed something I call The Bones. These simply constructed exercise devises, composed of galvanized pipe and lead shot, are a great way to develop strength of the chest, back, grip, arms and shoulders. As for the cardio, it will have you panting inside 30 seconds. Other martial arts schools are now using them and I figured my work was done.

But in the summer of 2010 my nephew was involved in a horrific car wreck that left him a quadriplegic. So a new purposing of The Bones was born. Using PVC instead of galvanized pipe, 2 and 3 foot lengths instead of 5 to 6 foot lengths, and making them 2 to 5 pounds instead of 18 to 28 pounds, The Bones are now being used to rehab Steve at a care center outside of Spokane, Washington.

Gloves were made with Velcro straps so Steve could hang onto The Bones, and he still needs some help in sitting up and moving The Bones, but he is getting better all the time. You just never know where a good idea is going to land until you launch it.
