Martial Arts for the 21st Century

The 1st day after doing 1,000 pushups, crunches and squats is, for me, always a little slow. The pain is starting to set in, but I know tomorrow it will be worse. Then it gets better.

A school in Florida, run by Master Turnbull, accepted my 1,000 challenge, and being martial artists they ramped it up a notch by adding in 1,000 punches to the pushups, squats and crunches. All day yesterday I was getting email updates on their progress. It made me feel warm and fuzzy reading about people, many of whom I've never met, jumping in with both feet.

For all the first-timers I know that besides the soreness you are all in the 'Holy Cow' phase. Holy Cow!, I just did a whole bucket full of (fill in the blank). Holy Cow!, I just did something I never even dreamed of before I started the martial arts.

Yeah, Holy Cow!

That was such a great experience. We were updating each other as we moved through the sets and cheering each other on on facebook. It was a great way to bond together and start the new year. After all, there are worst things that we could have been doing.
