Looking from the outside in.
How many times have you been watching your students and thought, "How are they not getting this? It's so simple: step to the right and knock them out". Everything is so clear from across the room. Even if they are senior students, and the answer is literately staring them in the face, they keep missing it.
When I was kid, my parents would always say "you always have to learn things the hard way, don't you?"
Are you suffering from this in your business?
Many times we are working tirelessly to accomplish our goals, yet we never seem to meet them. However, if someone else had the same situation with the same circumstances the answer would be obvious.
Stepping back and looking at your current situation is something that must become a habit. It is counterproductive to try to make decisions with no perspective. Here are three quick ways to seek knowledge that may be staring right at you:
1. Ask those who are involved. Talk to your staff, your family, and frequent visitors prompting them to give you honest feedback. Search for people who like you, and give them permission to be honest.
2. Educate yourself on different ways to better accomplish what you are currently doing. Always be open to the possibility that there could be a better way. This could be with your front desk operations, your book keeping, or even how you teach.
3. Seek outside counsel. You do NOT have to pay someone to do this. You could ask a fellow business owner to trade off once or twice a year to give you a different perspective.
This is just a quick way to continue to improve your business. The most important thing to remember is if you make the effort to improve, you will.
